Since embarking on our first overland adventure with our BMW R1200 Adventure motorcycle. We made a life altering decision, in the spirit of overlanding, to enjoy nature and the outdoors while we are still in good health and possess fitness and agility. We love not being in one place for extended periods of time and off the grid. That is exactly what overlanding is all about, covering long distances on land and being self reliant. We love nature and we love life. Our reason for setting out on this overland journey is because we want purpose and fulfillment for our lives, as well as having freedom and flexibility to do what matters most to us. Jason has been working away from home in hostile countries for 14 years, and decided to reclaim those years. He is the big “daddy bear” giving hugs and advise, whether you asked or not. With Jay being our executive planner, we always have a master plan. Furthermore his main responsibilities are making the fire and setting up camp. Above all Jason prides himself in being extremely meticulous about our equipment and vehicle maintenance. Jay is an exuberant biker as well and is as comfortable on two wheels as on four. Reading a map is his forte, well mostly……, with that being said, we are never lost, consequently the wrong road is the better route after all.

Maggie has a background in Psychology, and she definitely has a kind heart, she is also a compassionate and energetic companion. Although it seems that planning does not exist in her vocabulary, she keeps the admin and important stuff organized. You can wake her in the middle of the night and she will without a doubt be able to tell you where to find anything regarding paperwork. Most noteworthy is the fact that Maggie can turn from HERO to ZERO when hungry. She feels cold whenever the temperature drops below 37º Celsius and is rated the world’s most inquisitive traveler.

Over a period of three years, we converted our Toyota Hilux 4×4 into an overland rig, and she does not disappoint. Our rig is purpose- built for visiting remote, not easy accessible places and for overlanding across variable terrain. As a result of allot of research, trail and error she is equipped to travel off the grid beyond the boundaries and confines of asphalt roads and electrical coupling points.
